Vacation Compound Phase Two

Vacation Compound
Crow Creek Ranch, Idaho

The ranch is located in a sparsely populated Idaho valley at an elevation of over 6,500 feet. Distant mountain ranges frame surrounding views.
Linked by a large cedar deck the complex rises just slightly above the undulating grasses, which fill the valley floor. The three historic buildings on site (original homestead, school house and pantry) were gutted with only the log and clapboard shells remaining. Vertical and horizontal steel visors puncture the old shells, flooding the interiors with light. They also frame views of the valley floor and the star filled night sky, connecting the interiors with the stunning landscapes beyond.
The original footprint has been expanded with two steel panel clad structures set in juxtaposition to the historical buildings. Panel design was inspired by local Native American iconography.

Gross area – approx. 2,800 s.f.
