A New York City-based hedge fund requested that the design of its new 18,500 square-foot office project the company’s technological sophistication but remain respectful of the building’s industrial past. The open plan takes advantage of natural light and simultaneously highlights the visually powerful structural columns marching through the space. The columns, along with the polished concrete floors, glassed-in trading room, exposed mechanical ducts, and cable tray systems all underscore an aesthetic that mediates between the building’s history, the client’s desire for flexibility and adaptability as their firm expands and the desired image for the company.
